Welcome to the World of Barnaby the Turtle!
Meet Barnaby, your dapper and distinguished guide to the wonders of the British coastline. A non-human naturalist with a passion for the shore, Barnaby is easily recognized by his signature style: a sharp tweed jacket, a classic flat cap, and a sturdy leather satchel used to house his many trail journals.
Created by Angelika Davey and Steven Healey, Barnaby invites you to step away from the “Rushing World” and embrace his “Slow Travel” philosophy. For Barnaby, the best things in life take time, whether it’s observing the delicate dance of a Curlew in the saltmarshes or savoring a world-famous Cromer crab.
Barnaby’s Mission
Through this website, Barnaby shares his Grand Coastal Quest—an ongoing journey along the King Charles III England Coast Path. As he explores the 2,700 miles of this historic national trail, he aims to help walkers of all paces discover:
- Breathtaking Landscapes: From the striking red-and-white striped cliffs of Hunstanton to the vast, quiet saltmarshes of the Humber.
- Vibrant Wildlife: Barnaby highlights the importance of conservation, pointing out grey seal colonies and over-wintering migrant birds.
- Coastal Heritage: Follow along as he visits historic piers, maritime museums, and the easternmost points of the country.
Whether you are a seasoned hiker or a “slow wanderer” like Barnaby, he welcomes you to join him as he charts the shoreline—one steady, thoughtful step at a time.
