Phase 3: The South East of the King Charles III England Coast Path spans from Harwich to Brighton, encompassing Segments 13 through 19.
This phase offers a highly diverse coastal journey that transitions from the convoluted, wild saltmarshes of Essex and the Thames Estuary down to the iconic chalk formations of the southern coast. Along the route, walkers can explore a wide variety of historic and natural landmarks, including:
- The world’s longest pleasure pier at Southend-on-Sea.
- Tilbury Fort and the maritime heritage of the Thames Estuary.
- Whitstable, known as the oyster capital of Kent.
- The legendary White Cliffs of Dover and the towering Seven Sisters chalk cliffs.
- The unique, stark “desert” landscape of Dungeness.
